“Hospital cleanliness has been a major issue in Wales over the last 10 years yet the number of people dying as a result of MRSA and C-Difficile is still far too high.
“Part of the problem is the lack of emphasis on how we should be maintaining cleanliness on hospital wards.
“Despite years of repeated warning, many hospitals are still treating patients in crowded wards and lack basic facilities to isolate patients who have an infection so that it doesn’t spread.
“We have repeatedly called for the Assembly Government to focus on long term strategies rather than quick fix remedies as the only way to see any significant reduction in MRSA and C-Difficile figures.
“Patients across Wales have the right to be treated in a clean environment where their health is not going to be threatened by illnesses they pick up while being cared for.”
